District 7 & Phu My Hung Nightlife Guide: Bars, Karaoke & Evenings Out (2026)
District 7's Phu My Hung is Saigon's planned, green and very international new town — home to large Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese communities. Its nightlife is calmer than District 1 but has its own rhythm of lakeside evenings, Korean barbecue, pubs and karaoke.
Why Phu My Hung has its own nightlife scene
Drive 20–30 minutes south of the centre and Ho Chi Minh City changes character. Phu My Hung, the master-planned urban area in former District 7, has wide boulevards, parks, international schools and apartment towers. It is home to one of the largest expat populations in the city, especially Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese families, and Hangul signage is so common on some streets that people call parts of it "Little Seoul".
That shapes the nightlife. Instead of thumping walking streets, you get lakeside cafés, Korean barbecue that runs late, quiet pubs, sports bars, and karaoke rooms where colleagues and families sing after dinner. For business travellers staying near the exhibition halls, or anyone who wants a relaxed night without District 1's crowds, it is ideal.
A naming note: District 7 was dissolved as an administrative unit on 1 July 2025 and its wards merged into larger new wards, but "District 7" (Quận 7) and "Phu My Hung" remain the names everyone uses.

Area breakdown: where to go at night
Crescent Lake and the Starlight Bridge
The heart of evening life. A promenade lined with restaurants and cafés curves around Crescent Lake, and the pedestrian Starlight Bridge is lit in changing colours after dark. Locals come out to walk, jog and photograph the lights. Start your evening here with dinner or a coffee.
Crescent Mall area
Crescent Mall (101 Ton Dat Tien, opened 2011) anchors a cluster of restaurants, a cinema and cafés. It is a practical meeting point, especially in rainy season.
The Korean dining and pub streets
The residential blocks off the main Phu My Hung boulevards are packed with Korean restaurants, chicken-and-beer pubs, soju bars and Korean-style karaoke. Many stay open late, menus often come in Korean, Vietnamese and English, and staff are used to foreigners.
Expat pubs and sports bars
Western-style pubs show football and rugby, run quiz nights and serve craft beer — the main draw for long-stay expats and digital nomads living in the area's serviced apartments.
Karaoke rooms
Private karaoke is the classic after-dinner activity for groups here. For how it works and how to read a bill, see our Korean karaoke Saigon guide and Ho Chi Minh karaoke guide, and browse the Korean karaoke directory and KTV directory. Check each listing for its district, since venues are spread across the city.
For business visitors and trade-fair guests
Phu My Hung is home to the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) on Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, so during big trade fairs the area fills with exhibitors from across Asia and beyond. If you are staying nearby, you do not need to cross the river for a good evening: hotel bars and Korean or Japanese restaurants are well suited to client dinners, private rooms are easy to reserve, and karaoke is a common way to round off a business night. Book early in fair weeks, when the best rooms go fast.

Getting there and the best time to go
- By Grab: the most practical option. Book through the Grab app; journeys from District 1 typically take 20–40 minutes depending on traffic and the bridge route.
- Avoid rush hour: 17:00–19:00 on weekdays is slow on the main roads; arrive before or after.
- Best nights: Friday and Saturday for pubs and karaoke; weekday evenings are pleasantly quiet by the lake.
- Booking: reserve Korean BBQ and karaoke rooms on weekends, ideally by phone or Zalo.
- Navigation: street layouts are grid-like but block names repeat; drop pins on Google Maps rather than typing addresses.

Living in Phu My Hung: tips for long-stay expats and nomads
Many digital nomads and families choose District 7 for its space, greenery and quieter streets, then go into the centre only on weekends. If that is you, a few habits make nightlife easier: find a regular pub or two where staff know you, join the community quiz or sports nights to meet people, and keep an eye on our Q&A board, where residents swap recommendations for new restaurants, bars and karaoke rooms. Weeknights are the best time to explore — venues are relaxed, service is attentive and you will get a feel for the neighbourhood before the weekend crowds arrive.
First-timer checklist
- Plan your Grab ride home in advance if you are staying in District 1.

- Carry some cash; many small Korean restaurants are cash or QR only.
- Learn "tính tiền" (the bill, please) — and check it line by line.
- Bring a light jacket for strong air-conditioning in karaoke rooms.

Etiquette and safety
- Phu My Hung is generally considered one of the safer, quieter parts of the city, but phone snatching still happens; keep valuables away from the road.
- Many residents are families with children — keep noise down near apartment blocks late at night.
- In Korean restaurants, pour for others and let elders or hosts start; it is appreciated by Korean and Vietnamese hosts alike.
- Never drink and ride a motorbike. Vietnam has a zero-alcohol limit for drivers.
- Read official advice such as Canada's Vietnam travel advice before your trip, and our Saigon nightlife safety tips.
