how does a local KTV actually work? never been to one

Friends want to do karaoke on our last night. In Australia you just book a room by the hour, is a ho chi minh ktv the same?

Do you pay for the room, the drinks, both? Worried about ending up with a weird bill.

    usually you get a private room and pay for room time plus whatever you order. some places do drink packages instead. it really varies, so ask for the price list before you sit down

    ask how they charge (per hour or minimum spend) and whether service charge and VAT get added. takes 30 seconds and saves the argument later

    song list is mostly vietnamese but every place i've been had a decent english section. fruit plates and snacks come with a price too, don't assume they're free
