ho chi minh airport to district 1: what i actually paid (grab vs bus 109) - General

Been in and out of Tan Son Nhat a bunch this year so figured I'd write it down.

International arrivals are at T2. Grab from the app to D1 was roughly 150k VND on a weekday evening, took about 35 min.

Same trip around 11pm on a rainy night came up closer to 230k. Late night, rush hour and rain all push the grab fare up, anywhere from about 120k to 250k is normal.

Bus 109 is the cheap option if you're light on luggage. Slower but totally fine for getting from ho chi minh airport to district 1.

If you're flying domestic, check your ticket. Domestic is split between T1 and the newer T3 depending on airline.

took the 109 last month with a 40L backpack, no dramas. have small notes ready tho

fwiw when it's pouring the wait for a grab can be 15+ min. bus doesn't care about rain lol
