local karaoke as a first-timer: what it's actually like - General

Coworkers dragged me along last month so here's the gist for anyone curious.

Karaoke is legal and licensed here, and it's super normal. Families, office teams, birthday groups, everyone does it.

You rent a private room with your group, pick songs off a screen, order drinks/snacks if you want. Nobody forces you to drink.

Prices vary by venue and room size, so ask first. There are English songs, just maybe not the newest ones.

Getting a Grab home after is easy, and is ho chi minh safe at night for that? in my experience yes, just watch your phone.

Toast is 'mot hai ba dzo'. You'll hear it a lot.
