Showed up in shorts and sandals because it was 31 degrees at 11pm. Door guy just shook his head.

Went back to the hotel, put on jeans and closed shoes, got in no problem.

So yeah, dress code is real at the bigger D1 clubs. Bui Vien bars don't care at all.

Same thing happened to my mate in flip flops. Long pants + any sneakers seems to be the safe minimum.

Pretty similar to Bangkok. The fancier the lobby, the stricter the door.

For women it's way more relaxed but I'd still skip flip flops. Also bring your passport or a copy, some places are strict about 18+.
